Google DeepMind's protein folding v3 can now design new proteins

Google DeepMind has released AlphaFold 3, and it represents a fundamental shift from protein structure prediction to protein design. The new model can generate novel protein structures optimized for specific functions.

AlphaFold 1 and 2 answered the question "what shape does this protein take?" AlphaFold 3 answers "what protein shape do I need to achieve this function?" It is the difference between reading and writing.
